Get Well Soon.

A friend's son was recently diagnosed with Lyme disease. His older sister has it, so it's not something new to them (in fact, they go to the same doctor as me!). I was going to to send him a Get Well Soon card, but then I thought better of it.

Why? Those words to a Lymie, shortly after diagnosis, is almost like teasing, like a jeer.

Because there is no soon in getting well when someone is recently diagnosed with Lyme. They have a long road ahead of them, and it's not something a card can fix.

But, I'm not discouraging sending cards to those battling with this awful disease. By all means, do it. Unexpected encouragement from people means more than you can imagine.

Especially if you keep taking the time to check on them and remind that them that you are praying. Many people have told me that they are praying, but those who made the biggest impact by far is the family in our church who often will come up to me and ask me how I'm feeling and remind me they are still praying. It means so much, because they haven't forgot, it wasn't just a "find out she's sick, pray for her once, and forget" thing, they truly care. I often have to hold back tears after talking to one of them. Such a simple and quick thing, can mean the world to someone. ♥

Just be careful what you say. No matter how well you mean, your words can sting.

Say things like 'Praying for you' 'You're in our thoughts' 'Hope you're up and at 'em again soon' 'Feel better soon'.

But let's stay away from Get Well Soon, okay? ☺
