My story.

We think I got bitten while on a mission trip to Ukraine. Which would mean I've had it for 2.5+ years. I vaguely remember having a rash (that looked like a bulls-eye) on my leg while there, but it went away so my teammates and I dismissed it, and I forgot to tell my mom. I also had many flu-like symptoms while there, including fever and lots of nausea. I now know those to be signs of early Lyme, but at the time we just blamed it on the food and heat.

My mom remembers me complaining of feeling achy, tired and sick shortly after I got home, but since then I haven't really had any symptoms until this past December, when I spent 7 very stressful weeks doing childcare for a large family. The stress of that time most likely triggered it and I got very sick while there.

And that would also be why caught everything the kids had, because my immune system was/is shot. The doctor there diagnosed me with upper respiratory bronchitis, and started me on a round of antibiotics, which helped with everything except a near constant headache and feeling achy/tired (which was to be expected with little sleep and pushing myself to the limit everyday).

When I got home, I slept and rested a lot, but still didn't feel much better, and the headache and feeling tired still didn't go away. Going up the stairs made me out of breath. We went to the doctor, they put me on another round of antibiotics for a lingering cough and any infection that might be hanging around. They also gave me an inhaler to help me breathe, and did blood work to check for mono and some other stuff, all which came back negative.

Two weeks later I was back for the follow-up and they had no idea what was wrong with me, with my headache and fatigue. "It's not normal for a 14 year old to be getting headaches like that." So they wanted a CT scan and for then for me to see a neurologist.

Before doing that my mom wanted to send samples to a homeopathic doctor a friend of ours uses, and see what her machine could pick up. Lyme disease came back very high along with many other things including hormonal imbalance. Though not very high, salmonella and cucumber tapeworm were also on the list. Interesting.

So I am on a bunch of supplements from the homeopathic, and waiting to see if they are working. I was told it was going to get worse before it got better, and it did. Right now, just over a month after starting treatment, I am about back to where I was when I started it.

We'll just have to keep praying for healing and see what happens next.
